Accurate, because people check
Trained staff match each candidate's documents to the details they entered, then research every screening themselves. Records that belong to someone else, or that can't legally be reported, never reach your report.
Employment background screening
eScreenly confirms every candidate's identity and researches every screening by hand, inside a workflow built around the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You get accurate, defensible reports. Your candidates get a clear, secure experience that takes about ten minutes on their phone.
Trained staff match each candidate's documents to the details they entered, then research every screening themselves. Records that belong to someone else, or that can't legally be reported, never reach your report.
A standalone FCRA disclosure, state notices, e-signed authorization, fair-chance certifications and a full audit trail are part of every order, not a checklist you have to remember.
Candidates never create an account. They follow one short page at a time, on any device, with their progress saved securely, and they can ask for a free copy of their report.
How it works
Every check follows the same documented path, so you always know where it stands and why.
Choose a package, enter the candidate's name and email and the job's work location, from the dashboard or your applicant tracking system. Where state law requires it, you certify the fair-chance step, such as a conditional offer, before any criminal search.
They receive a personal link, read the standalone disclosure and any notices for their state, enter their details, upload their photo ID, Social Security card and a selfie, then review everything and e-sign the authorization. Unfinished? We send a reminder before their link expires.
An eScreenly specialist compares the documents against the candidate's details: the name and number on the Social Security card, the name and date of birth on the ID, the ID's validity, and that the selfie matches. If anything is unclear, we ask the candidate for new photos.
Each search in the package is researched and documented. Records that don't belong to the candidate, or can't be reported, such as non-conviction records older than seven years, are excluded with a reason kept for audit. You watch progress live.
You're emailed when the report is ready. It's Clear, or Consider when there's something to review. Your adjudicators see the records and record a decision, with a reminder of the pre-adverse action steps the FCRA requires before declining a candidate.

Compliance
Background checks are regulated. eScreenly handles the paperwork and records the evidence, so your process holds up.
Candidates acknowledge a disclosure presented on its own page, then e-sign an authorization with their own name. We keep the signature, time, IP address and device as evidence.
Candidates see the notices for the job's state and their home state, including California, Minnesota, New York, Oklahoma and Washington, each acknowledged and logged.
For jobs in California, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota and Washington, you certify the required hiring step before a criminal search. Your certification is stored word for word.
Every employer is reviewed and approved before ordering, and certifies that it will request reports only for employment purposes.
Specialists exclude records that don't belong to the candidate or that the FCRA doesn't allow to be reported, documenting each exclusion internally.
Candidates can ask for a free copy of their report when they sign, and results are shared only with the people in your team who make decisions.
eScreenly provides the tools and records; employers remain responsible for how they use consumer reports. We recommend reviewing your screening program with employment counsel.
For your team
Invite your team with the permissions they need. Conviction history stays with the people who decide, in line with fair-chance hiring laws and EEOC guidance.
Security
Social Security numbers, identity documents and criminal records deserve more than the usual defaults.
Every employer and staff user signs in with a password and an authenticator app. There's no way to opt out.
Social Security numbers, dates of birth, license numbers and identity documents are encrypted in the database.
Only the specialist working a check can open its documents, and every view, reveal and decision is written to a permanent access log.
Notifications never contain results, records or candidate identifiers. Recipients sign in to see them.
Candidates use their own site with no account and no shared session. A link opened on another device starts over and can't see what was entered.
Sign-ins are rate limited per email address and orders per account, and a strict content policy keeps third-party scripts off every page.
Integrations
Create an API key and order checks, list packages and fetch results from your own systems. Responses never include Social Security numbers, dates of birth or license numbers.

No. Recruiters can order checks and follow progress and decisions. Clear/Consider results and records are visible only to owners, admins and adjudicators, the people who make hiring decisions.
Your adjudicators review the records and record a decision. Before declining a candidate based on a report, the FCRA requires a pre-adverse action notice with a copy of the report and a summary of rights, then a waiting period. The report page reminds your team of these steps.
